Xmas closing periods and Weds lunch sessions

Docklands Brazilian Jiu Jitsu will be closed for a period of 2.5 weeks for the Christmas and New Years break period.  Additionally as a Docklands event is occurring on Thursday the 16th of December 2010, this session will be moved to  Tuesday the 21st of December 2010.  So to clarify the open and closing dates, the last and first sessions for 2010 and 2011 are listed below.

Last session of 2010: Tuesday the 21st of December 2010
First session of 2011: Tuesday the 11th of January 2011

On the bright side however, we are excited to announce that we will be beginning Wednesday lunchtime training sessions from 12:00pm midday to 1:00pm every Wednesday beginning the 12th of January 2011.  This will be in addition to the two evening occurring on Tuesday and Thursday nights.  The lunchtime sessions are a great opportunity to do some extra Jiu Jitsu and for office workers, a fantastic way to spend a lunchtime.

Overall 2010 has been a fantastic year for Docklands BJJ in Melbourne, and we’re very much looking forward to the exciting new developments in 2011.  Stay tuned for more, and in the meanwhile train hard!

Docklands BJJ at the Pan Pacific Championships

Under the Australian Jiu Jitsu Alliance (AJJA) banner with the Nexus team, Docklands BJJ competed at the annual Pan Pacific Jiu Jitsu Championships.  With over 52 teams competing and nearly 800 competitors, the Pan Pacs is the biggest Jiu Jitsu competition in Australia if not Asia.  Overall, the AJJA team placed third despite having formed only two months ago and with far fewer competitors entered.

Notable performances in the AJJA include Murat Karadenizli (leader of Nexus, the Docklands BJJ parent gym) winning gold in the under 79kg brown belt gi division, and Dan Cherubin winning the 97kg+ black belt division.

Docklands BJJ is thrilled to be part of the Australian Jiu Jitsu Alliance and with such strong competition results just two months in, the sky’s the limit! Congratulations to everyone who competed and a big thank you to those who came and supported us.
